Do we respect our elders any more....

Family questions arrest of elderly woman with Alzheimer's - KPTV - FOX 12

A lady with Alzheimer's was arrested a couple of weeks ago because she took some cookies. Yes she was stealing.... yes she was wrong and yes the police had had to be called when she got violent... but was all of this really necessary? One I would like to talk to her caregivers and find out why she was roaming the store alone. Two this was all over cookies. Have people really become so awful that they stop an elder women for steeling. Any one who is over 85 should be give freaking cookies at the front door. They have earned the right.

Anyone who has ever spent time with someone with an Alzheimer's patient knows they have lost control of their minds. They don't know what year they are in let alone whats wrong and right any more. Some are scared when they look in the mirror because they expect to see a a younger version of themselves and I ask how can you get mad at a this same person for stealing cookies. It is not their fault they do anything any more. It is amazing what happens to the mind and how it loose complete control. There is no reasoning with someone who has this awful disease... it is unexplainable and sad to see what happens to a person. I would rather have a cancer because at least I could look at my family and know who they are. It makes me think of my Mom and I, how connected the two of us are and to think some disease could take that away from here. I cannot imagine her not knowing who I am yet I bet the lady who took the cookies has moment of having no idea who the people she held dearest are.

It really makes me sad and a bit sick to thing of how some treat our elders. They are our history what we can learn so much from. Sit down and have a conversation with a 100 year old and then come talk to me about life. You learn so much and are so humbled by what you have today.

Ron Paul 2012?!?!?

Liking this guy. During the debates he answers questions when asked and doesn't jump around the subject or answer the question with a question. http://www.ronpaul2012.com/
